1. Before handling your contact lenses you will need to wash, rinse and dry your hands thoroughly (smokers especially). Use mild, non-scented soaps to avoid residue on the hands which may transfer onto the contact lenses.
2. Take care when using hair spray, makeup and other cosmetics. Any slight contamination of your contact lenses can cause discomfort and potentially infection. It is recommended that you apply makeup after your contact lenses are in, and remove the contacts before removing your makeup to avoid contamination.
3. Never re-use contact lenses that are designated for one use only. If your contacts are for multiple wears, please ensure that they are stored safely in a contact lens case with an appropriate storage solution between uses. Consult a health professional if you unsure what solution you should use for storing your contact lenses.
4. Do not use tap water directly on your contact lenses, and never put contact lenses in your mouth to ‘rinse’ them. Bacteria can live even in filtered or distilled water, resulting in infection.
5. Clean your contact lenses before use with sterile Multi-Purpose solution. If you are in doubt consult an optometrist for advice on appropriate cleaning and storage solutions for your contact lenses.
6. Never wear another person’s used contact lenses as this can spread infection and particles.
7. Remove your contact lenses before sleeping.
8. Keep the tip of your cleaning and storage solution bottles from touching other surfaces, including your fingers, eyes, or the contact lenses themselves. Any surface has the potential to contaminate your solution, leading to potential infection.
9. If you experience any discomfort, irritation, light flashes, eye pain, swelling, unusual redness, blurring or loss of vision you should remove the contacts immediately and consult a health professional.
10. Never swim while wearing contact lenses. Even when wearing goggles there is still a substantial risk of serious infection if you wear contact lenses in a pool, river or the ocean.
